Senior Pet Wellness Promotion
Senior Care & Senior Wellness Package
It’s no secret that our older pets require different care and health management than their younger counterparts. Ageing is a natural part of life; it’s something we can’t avoid. With early intervention, we can help keep our ageing pets happy and feeling their best, maintaining a good quality of life for as long as possible
Age-related changes can appear in many ways: some are obvious, like reduced mobility, hearing loss, or declining vision; others are more subtle, such as changes in appetite or water intake due to underlying pathologies. This is why communication between you, as the primary caregiver, and your veterinary team is so crucial through your pets golden years.

Senior Wellness Package – $300 Offer Valid Until July 31st
What's included?
- Comprehensive veterinary consultation and full physical examination
- Dental health assessment
- Arthritis assessment
- Comprehensive blood panel
- Urinalysis
- Blood pressure measurement
- Nail trim
During your pet’s consultation, our Veterinarian will perform a thorough physical examination. If you have any specific concerns—whether it’s a new lump, bump, or behavioral change—we encourage you to ask! Should our Vet recommend any additional diagnostics or treatments (such as a fine needle aspirate of a lump, lump removal, or dental procedure), you will also receive 10% off the cost of those services. The same discount applies to the first prescription of arthritis medication, as well as the first purchase of certain prescription diets if deemed necessary.
If you are interested in this package, we ask that you bring a fresh urine sample (from the first urination in the morning ideally) with you to the visit if possible.

When is my pet considered a ‘senior’?
While there’s no universal answer, we know that different species and breeds age at different rates. Larger breeds like Great Danes and Bernese Mountain Dogs tend to age more quickly than smaller breeds like Maltese, Jack Russell terriers, or Chihuahuas.
As a general guideline, we are offering the Senior Wellness packages to:
- Dogs over the age of 7 years
- Cats over the age of 10 years.
This is when we often start seeing age-related changes, with osteoarthritis being one of the most common.

Why is this important for my senior pet?
As our pets age, some health issues are easy to spot, while others may quietly progress without outward signs. For example, if Fluffy, your 9-year-old domestic shorthair, has stopped jumping onto countertops or scratching the furniture, it may not be because she’s behaving better—it could be because it hurts to jump or scratch. Arthritis can make even small movements painful.
As we notice the grey hairs around their faces and their slower pace, we must remember that their internal organs are also changing. Routine bloodwork and urinalysis are vital tools for early detection of many age-related conditions, from kidney and liver dysfunction to thyroid imbalances.
Early detection allows us to better manage or slow the progression of many diseases, helping your pet maintain a good quality of life. It’s important to remember: age is not a disease—it’s a natural life stage that calls for adjustments in how we care for our pets, ensuring they stay as comfortable and healthy as possible.

How can our Veterinary team help?
With colder weather creeping in, we know that achy joints and stiff muscles become more noticeable—both for our pets and for us! To support our senior patients, we’re excited to offer our special promotion designed to help keep your pet comfortable and healthy.

Upcoming Seminar: Caring for Your Aging Pets
We are pleased to invite you to an informative seminar on senior pet care, scheduled for early June at Darling Street Vets! This event is open to all pet owners—whether your companion is already in their golden years or you're preparing for the future.
Our seminar will cover a range of topics, including:
- Recognising early signs of aging
- Adjusting diet and exercise routines
- Managing chronic conditions
- Providing comfort and enrichment
Regular veterinary check-ups are crucial for early detection of health issues in senior pets. Senior pets—dogs older than 7 years and cats older than 10—should be examined by their veterinarian every six months.
Caring for an aging pet can be a deeply rewarding experience. By being attentive to their changing needs, providing appropriate medical care, and offering love and companionship, you can help your furry friend enjoy their golden years to the fullest.
We encourage you to submit any questions or concerns in advance, as we'll address them during the seminar. Attendees will also receive complimentary pet goody bags and refreshments.
Stay tuned to our social media channels for exact dates and RSVP details. We look forward to helping you support your pet's well-being through every stage of their life!
